Are you tired of tradesmen not showing up on time or when you need them the most? Are you struggling to find an available tradesman to come and do those small but still important jobs?

Trust E.J Electrical & Communications with all your maintenance needs, we will be there when you need it the most.

Do you need:

  • a new power, data or phone point?

  • to move an existing power, data or phone point?

  • a new light installed?

  • a new ceiling fan installed?

  • a new smoke alarm installed?

Do you know?

New smoke alarm laws are effective as of 1st January 2017 – do you know what that means for you? For new homes or where a substantial renovation is undertaken the new laws will apply immediately, meaning:

  • Photoelectric alarms only;

  • Cannot also contain an ionisation sensor;

  • Be hardwired to the mains power supply with a secondary power source (battery);

  • Be interconnected with every other smoke alarm ;

  • Installed in each bedroom;

  • Installed in hallways serving bedrooms; and

  • Installed in the exit path of every storey not containing bedrooms.

For existing dwellings the new laws will come into effect as of 1st January 2027. For dwellings being sold, leased or an existing lease renewed, the new laws will come into effect as of 1st January 2022. However, if the existing smoke alarms are manufactured more than 10 years ago or the alarms don’t work when tested, they will have to be replaced with photoelectric alarms which comply with Australian Standard (AS) 3786-2014.
