Testing and Tagging
Specified electrical equipment and safety switches (RCD's) have to be tested at certain intervals based on their classification. This work can only be performed by a qualified electrician and it is an offence under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 to repair electrical equipment unless you have the relevant qualifications.
When testing electrical equipment a durable tag will have to be attached showing the test date and noting the next scheduled test and inspection date.
The class of work determines how often the equipment has to be tested. Intervals for testing can be determined by consulting the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 and AS/NZS 3760 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
